1. Programmes Manager

Position Purpose

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Programmes Manager will be responsible for overall coordination and implementation of activities under this project. The Programmes Manager shall also be in collaboration with other staff responsible for overseeing monitoring, Evaluation and Learning unit in core creation with his/her supervisor. He/she will be fully involved in resource mobilization and quality implementation of programme interventions to achieve our mandate.
Job Profile: This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in this project, working with both WLWF and project partners. Working in Kafue district and their surrounding communities in Lukulongo, Kapongo and Shimabala wards. The successful applicant in liaison with her supervisor will have direct oversight of the project, with responsibility for finance, budget management, monitoring, evaluation and learning to ensure the successful implementation and project deliverables are achieved.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Under the auspices of the Executive Director, the Programmes Manager shall in liaison with the supervisor;

  • Support in donor engagements and the development of bankable project proposals to mobilize resources for WLWF activities
  • Maintain good working relationships with all stakeholders including line ministries such as Green Economy and Environment, Land and natural resources, Agriculture, corporating and technical partners to the Foundation.
  • Support in the assessment of organizations capacity needs and lead coordination of capacity building support programs to project beneficiaries
  • Raise the profile and visibility of the WLWF through media engagements and proper use of EIC materials in collaboration with communication officer
  • Represent the WLWF at related meetings and events
  • Coordinate the compilation of narrative and financial reports to meet internal and donor reporting requirements
  • Assist in developing terms of reference for staff and short-term consultants engaged on specific assignments for the WLWF
  • Assist in the hosting of monthly, quarterly, and annual planning and review meetings
  • Assist in monitoring progress and implementation of annual plans for the WLWF
  • In an absence of the Programmes Manager act as an ex-official during Programmes sub committee Board meetings
  • Assist in organizing for meetings called upon by the Board, Executive Director and Corporating partners
  • Provide over-sight and leadership to staff recruited under programs, research, finance and administration units

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ professional experience in a similar position, preferably with a Civil Society Organisations
  • Experience in designing and/or implementing development programmes particularly those related to agriculture, reproductive health rights, climate change, natural resource governance and social and economic justice
  • Strong understanding of climate science and its impacts on smallholder farmers and other stakeholders in Zambia
  • A good working knowledge of ago-ecology approaches
  • Proven experience in resource mobilization
  • Strategic thinker, able to analyse and scan external environment to determine impactful actions for the WLWF
  • Ability to work independently and self-driven in a fast-paced, high time demand environment with highly time bound deliverables.
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and creatively with limited supervision.
  • Proven experience in strategic project oversight and coordination of complex projects.
  • Proven experience in advocacy actions with strong ability to engage with the media and public
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including reporting, facilitation, and representation.
  • Experience in managing and maintain a good working relationship with project beneficiaries.
  • Knowledge of the relevant public donors’ regulations highly preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to make sound judgment and decisions
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions and results-oriented
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other organizations where WLWF is a member
  • Good planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills very and good communicator
  • Ethical conduct and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Substantial experience in budgeting, budget/expense analysis, and accounting experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant academic qualifications preferably a bachelor’s degree in Environment and Natural Resource Management, Agriculture Economics, Climatology and Development Studies.
  • Qualification in mass communication and monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications
