A Lusaka based private school seeks the services of a Schools Principal. It is an institution with two schools: a Primary with a Nursery School and a Secondary School. It is a well renowned private institution for its outstanding performance. The institution has a multi-national community, with diverse races, religions and cultures.
Job Title: SCHOOLS PRINCIPAL
Reporting to: The Schools Board
Immediate subordinates: Three (3) Head Teachers
Job Purpose: To oversee all higher-level operations in the schools, create a safe learning environment and set performance goals for teachers. Superintend the teaching and learning process to ensure the set goals are attained. Keep oneself abreast with current and emerging trends in the provision of quality teaching and learning across all levels. The position of Schools Principal is a performance – based two-year contractual job. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the ability to perform
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Formulate and interpret School Policies.
2. Interpret and implement Government policies in the institution.
3. Manage the institution with its resources efficiently and effectively.
4. Provide vision, leadership and direction for the schools and meet set targets.
5. Deliver the highest standard of education and ensure equality of opportunity for all learners.
6. Liaise with the Schools Board in the recruitment of staff.
7. Work in an environment with diverse nationals and races.
8. Monitor and enforce school rules in liaison with the respective Head teachers.
9. Appoint and confirm staff to positions of responsibility.
10. Prepare Annual Appraisal Reports for top management and award deserving staff periodically.
11. Act as the schools’ spokesperson and deal with all official correspondences.
12. Approve learners’ transfer requests upon verification with Head Teachers and Accounts Office.
13. Periodic checks of learners’ academic work.
14. Market the schools using different media to ensure retention of learners and staff.
15. Approve entrance tests to new entrants upon recommendations from the respective Head Teachers.
16. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Schools Board.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
2. Bachelor of Arts /Science Degree with Education (Secondary Level)or Bachelor of Education (Primary Level)
3. A Master’s Degree in Education (Secondary, Primary Level) or Business Administration will be an added advantage.
4. Experience; Minimum of ten (10) years teaching at Primary or Secondary School and at least five (5) years of being a Head Teacher or Principal of a private school.
5. Valid Teaching Practising Certificate.
