Job Title: Project Coordinator – Small Holder Farmer Support Project

We are currently implementing a project in Zambia aimed at supporting small holder farmers through the provision of climate-smart solar water pumping equipment to address irrigation needs and mitigate the impact of drought.

Position Overview:

Zircon Energy Solutions is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Project Coordinator to oversee the implementation of our project supporting small holder farmers in Zambia. The Project Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of project activities, with a focus on deploying climate-smart solar water pumping solutions to enhance irrigation capabilities and improve agricultural productivity. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the livelihoods of small holder farmers while contributing to sustainable development efforts in Zambia.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Project Execution: Coordinate the implementation of project activities in accordance with established objectives and guidelines.

2. Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain strong relationships with project partners, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, community leaders, and small holder farmers. Facilitate regular communication and collaboration to ensure alignment of project goals and objectives.

3. Solar Water Pump Deployment: Oversee the procurement, installation, and maintenance of climate-smart solar water pumping equipment for small holder farmers. Ensure that solar water pump systems are designed and implemented in a manner that meets the specific irrigation needs of target communities.

4. Training and Capacity Building: Coordinate training sessions and capacity-building workshops for small holder farmers on the operation, maintenance, and management of solar water pumping systems. Provide technical assistance and support to farmers to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of irrigation practices.

5. Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track project progress, outcomes, and impacts. Collect and analyse data on key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness and sustainability of project interventions.

6. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular progress reports, and other project documentation as required. Ensure timely submission of reports to project stakeholders in accordance with established deadlines and reporting requirements.

7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges that may impact project implementation or outcomes. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address unforeseen circumstances and ensure project success.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of solar water pumping systems, irrigation techniques, and agricultural practices
• Diploma in agriculture, engineering, or related field. Advanced diploma or relevant certifications preferred.
• Proven experience in project coordination or management, preferably in the field of renewable energy, agriculture or rural development.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages spoken in Zambia is desirable.
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainable development and poverty alleviation.
• Valid driver’s license is an added advantage
