Programme Officer – Inclusive Eye Health Christian Blind Mission

The emphasis throughout our work is on local capacity development in poorer regions of the world. This increases service delivery in the fields of healthcare, education, rehabilitation, and livelihood development as well as organisational development of partner organisations.

Role Overview:

As a Programme Officer – Inclusive Eye Health, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to advocate for inclusive eye health services through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts with implementing partners across Zambia. You will work closely with governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and other stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of programs aimed at improving access to eye care services for marginalized communities, including individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate the development, coordination, and implementation of inclusive eye health programs in collaboration with implementing partners, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and donor requirements.
Provide technical guidance and capacity building support to implementing partners to strengthen their capacity in delivering quality eye care services and promoting disability-inclusive approaches.

Monitor and evaluate program activities, assess progress against set targets, and identify areas for improvement to ensure effective program delivery and impact.
Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among implementing partners, stakeholders, and relevant actors to leverage resources, expertise, and best practices in inclusive eye health programming.

Support advocacy efforts to promote policy changes and systemic reforms aimed at enhancing the accessibility and inclusivity of eye health services at the national and local levels.

Compile and analyse data, prepare reports, and communicate program results and lessons learned to internal and external stakeholders to demonstrate impact and inform decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in program management, preferably in the areas of public health, disability inclusion, or international development.
  • Proven experience in working with implementing partners, managing partnerships, and fostering collaboration to achieve common goals.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive development principles, disability rights, and health systems strengthening in the Zambian context.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and people skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
  • Commitment to Christian Blind Mission Zambia’s values and mission.
