INTERNSHIP PROGRAM X5 – DIRECTORATE OF MARKET SUPERVISION AND MARKET DEVELOPMENT

The Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) is a statutory body established under the repealed Securities Act, Cap. 354 of the Laws of Zambia and whose existence is continued under the Securities Act, No. 41 of 2016 to regulate and promote the orderly development of the Zambian Capital Markets. SEC is responsible for, inter alia, licensing of financial intermediaries and securities exchanges, the registration of securities such as debt and equity instruments and authorization of collective investments schemes.

The SEC is hereby inviting applications for internship in the Directorate of Market Supervision and Development (DMSD. The Intern(s) will support the directorate on various specific projects aimed at assisting the directorate to meet various key timelines and deliverables.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze financial data and create financial models for ease of analysis.
  • Undertake detailed review of financial statements and other reports submitted by capital market operators (“CMOs”) including financial analysis,
  • Undertake detailed reviews of monthly and quarterly returns submitted by CMOs.
  • Prepare periodic market reports.
  • Perform market research.
  • Prepare detailed reports to cover findings from the analyses undertaken and recommendations.
  • Produce statistical reports for presentation to management of the SEC and circulation to members of the public as appropriate.
  • Undertake administrative activities, for example updating and maintenance of various databases, filing, organizing meeting and other engagements etc.

Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s) from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS CAN BE FROM THE FOLLOWING DISCIPLINES:

  • Business Administration /Economics/Commerce
  • Accountancy/Corporate Finance/Financial Management/Treasury/Full ACCA/CIMA
  • Investments/Portfolio Management/Treasury/CFA
  • Project Management/Production and Operations Management
  • Banking and Finance/Development Studies
  • Engineering/Agriculture
  • Risk and Internal Audit

ELIGIBILITY INTO THE PROGRAM

  • Must be Zambian.
  • A graduate from a reputable University with a Merit or Distinction
  • Possess less than 2 years’ work experience.
  • Must not be older than 25years at the time of applying.
