Maamba Collieries Limited (MCL), a Nava Group, has the largest coal mining concession and since commissioning in July 2016, operates the only coal-fired Thermal Power Plant in Zambia, adopting modern, eco-friendly mining and processing methods. As the largest Independent Power Producer in the country, the 300MW mine-mouth power plant at Maamba, caters to the growing demand for power and accounts for over 10% of the generation capacity, thereby contributing to the energy security and economic development of the nation.
Now Maamba Collieries Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Nava Bharat Ventures Limited, is set to double its power generation capacity from 300 megawatts (MW) to 600 MW. This expansion, which falls under Phase II of MCL’s development plan, will involve the addition of 2 x 150MW (300MW) power units.
MCL is hereby advertising the following Eight positions for expansion project 2 x 150 MW Thermal Power Plants located at Maamba, Zambia.
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Maamba
Position: 3 (Three)
Minimum Qualifications;
- Grade 12 certificate
- Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Zambian with NRC
- Must be a paid-up Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
- 3 to 5 years work experience.
- Age of 24 to 35 years.
- Proficient in Ms. Word and Excel / Good report writing abilities and competencies.

ROLE OF THE POSITION
- As assigned by the construction Manager
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Study Construction and erection drawings/ documents
- Supervision of construction, erection, testing and commissioning activities as per approved drawings/ documents
- Preparation of protocols/ review of protocols submitted by Contractor.
- Preparation/ review of Risk Assessment documents as per requirement.
- Follow safe practices.
- Working towards achieving KPI Targets.
- Conducting tools box talks.
- Inspecting PPE/Tools at working area.
- Verification of equipment/ tools test certificates with validity before using.
- Assist to monthly auditing of materials at stores.
- Updating construction/ erection records.
- Assist to prepare the daily activity report/weekly report/monthly report/ any other MIS reports/ Statutory reports.
- Monitoring of quality during construction & erection.
- Co-ordinate with EPC contractor for completion of daily work schedules
- Preparation of punch points
General
- Undergoing Training.
- Ensuring harmony among all the colleagues of the Power Plant.
- Ensuring good housekeeping.
- Lead a team of technicians and motivate / train them for better performance and output.
