The Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS) is a Humanitarian Organization established in 1966 by an Act of Parliament CAP 307 of the laws of Zambia as an auxiliary institution that augments government’s efforts in developmental works and humanitarian assistance. ZRCS is part of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). In line with its mandate, ZRCS partners with the Government of the Republic of Zambia in responding to both man-made and natural disasters, including epidemics.

As part of our expansion plans, we are seeking a dedicated, self-motivated and detail-oriented PROTECTION, GENDER AND INCLUSION OFFICER.
Job Summary:
The Protection, Gender, and Inclusion Officer will play a pivotal role in promoting and integrating gender equality, protection, and social inclusion across all programs and operations within the ZRCS. This role involves designing, implementing, and monitoring strategies to ensure that the needs of vulnerable and marginalized groups are met, and that all interventions are inclusive and respectful of gender dynamics and diversity
Key Responsibilities:
S/he shall be able to develop and implement gender, protection, and inclusion strategies in alignment with ZRCS goals and international standards, to ensure that protection, gender, and inclusion considerations are integrated into program design, implementation, and evaluation.
S/he conduct training sessions and workshops for staff and partners on gender equality, protection principles, and inclusive practices. S/he shall provide ongoing technical support and mentorship to team members and partners.
S/he shall conduct gender and protection needs assessments and analysis to inform program development and implementation, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of gender, protection, and inclusion initiatives, recommending adjustments as needed.
S/he shall prepare regular reports on gender, protection, and inclusion activities, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. And also Document best practices and success stories to contribute to organizational learning and knowledge sharing programmes
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Human Rights, International Development, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in gender, protection, and inclusion work within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Strong understanding of international standards and frameworks related to gender equality, protection, and social inclusion.
- Proven experience in conducting training and capacity-building activities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and build effective partnerships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
