1. Customs Clearance Specialist

Job Description:

The Customs Clearance Specialist candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient and compliant customs clearance, maintaining accurate records, and liaising with customs officials and freight forwarders to resolve any issues that may arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquiring necessary documents from local Authorities for imports and export requirements
  • Inspecting the consignment to ensure it corresponds with what is on documents before handing over to clearing agents.
  • Ensure all the mandatory documents are in order according to the consignment
  • Ensure compliance with all customs regulations and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit documentation required for customs clearance.
  • Resolve customs-related issues and inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of all customs transactions and documentation.
  • Coordinate movements of consignments from port through borders to warehouses
  • Making payments to customs for taxes and others when necessary
  • Working closely and making good relations with the CPC to ensure that consignments are examined and assessed on time and lessen unnecessary queries
  • Work hand in hand and making good relations with ZRA customs enforcement

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as a Customs Clearance Specialist or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and procedures in Zambia.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or a related field (preferred).
  • At least 1 year work experience at border [either one at Chanida, Nakonde, chirundu, katima mulilo)
