Job Summary:
The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures across all our business units. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safety, and reducing workplace risks and hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across all business units, including transport and logistics, FMCG, retail fashion, and petroleum.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide health and safety training and education to employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Ensure that all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are maintained and used correctly.
- Maintain up-to-date records of health and safety incidents, training, and inspections.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and implement site-specific safety plans.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Lead the emergency response planning and drills, ensuring preparedness for any potential incidents.
- Advise management on health and safety issues, improvements, and legislative changes.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture within the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a multi-industry organization.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct training sessions and presentations.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and health and safety management software.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
