Mabiza Resources Limited (“Mabiza”) operates the Munali Nickel Mine (“Munali”), which is located in the Mazabuka District, 75 km south of Lusaka, Zambia. Mabiza is a wholly owned entity of Consolidated Nickel Mines Ltd.
The Mine is a modern, world-class facility with fully mechanized underground operations. To support this vision. Mabiza is seeking the services of an experienced and qualified individual to take up the position of:
Role: Procurement Officer
Reporting: Procurement Coordinator
Job Purpose: This position is responsible for providing procurement support in the acquisition of goods and services by ensuring that purchase orders/contracts for goods and services are in place to aid the company attain an optimal compromise between cost, quality, safety, and deadlines.
Responsibilities: –
- To conduct market research to identify and onboard suppliers for the provision of materials and services to Mabiza Resources Limited.
- Negotiating for the best possible terms and placing Orders/contracts for the supply of goods and services to meet planned customer requirements.
- Evaluate received quotations and make commercial recommendations.
- Develop detailed recommendations to award and have them approved.
- Preparation and administration of all on-site orders/contracts
- Applying Munali Nickel Mine’s tendering and contracting procedures in line with current policy.
- Conducting supplier rationalization, variety reduction, and record savings achieved as a result.
- Ensuring that all contractors on site conform to the commercial requirements of the company.
- Evaluate contracted vendors’ performance.
- Provide accurate commercial advice to Munali Nickel Mine personnel on tendering and contractual matters.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures about procurement are adhered to.
- Providing a consistent and quality service to all our customers and ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved.
- To obtain negotiated and budgeted savings through effective negotiations and price review
- Ensuring that executed contracts/orders have favorable commercial terms and conditions for Mabiza Resources Limited
- Contribute to Mabiza’s social license to operate by ensuring that local contractors are empowered through the awarding of contracts/orders.
- Provide inputs for operational contractual reports to enable effective management of the key performance activities in the mine, such as weekly reports, and weekly PO status reports.
- Seek management’s approval before committing the operation to contractual arrangements, policy changes, or industrial agreements affecting broader work practices, pay rates, or other areas of the operation.
- Ensure regular customer engagement to better understand user requirements.
- Ensure all company aims and objectives of engaging with the local community are implemented.
- Promote the integration between the engagement and the success of the business.
- Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in’ mining activities, consistent with Mabiza’s Resources Limited community relations policies.
- Adhering to environmental procedures, ensuring good housekeeping, resource conservation, spill prevention and the appropriate disposal of wastes.
Skills & Qualifications: –
- Grade 12 School Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply or equivalent, Law, Business, Engineering, or Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)
- Member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply
- At least three years of experience in the Mining Sector or other busy 24-hour Operation Industries
- Required to have a valid Driving License
- High level of computer skills – Microsoft Word and Excel, and any computerized accounting package
- Knowledge of pronto package
