Position Title: Truck Driver
Reports to: Workshop Manager

Background
African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization that takes on the complete responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities. We currently manage 20 national parks and protected areas in 11 countries covering over 17 million hectares in: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe
Responsibilities
- Drive and operate trucks
- Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps
- Pre- inspect the truck before driving.
- Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed.
- Load and unload cargo using
- Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times
- Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
- Reporting defects, accidents and violation
- Ensuring any mechanical and issues with the vehicle are corrected
- Care of vehicle and associated equipment including cleaning, pre-driving checks, and reporting defects or vehicle incidents to management.
- Complying with and implementing the vehicle fleet record-keeping system.
- Ensuring that driving complies with all the relevant Zambia safety and road traffic legislation.
- Assisting with any other reasonable tasks outside of the scope of work mentioned above as required from time to time by management.
Minimum requirements, capabilities, competencies and experience needed for the job
- A valid professional driving license (Class CE ) with no restrictions or endorsements.
- Able drive an interlink truck
- Able to operate a crane
- Must have a valid passport
- Competent written and spoken English
- Strong personal integrity and dependability.
- Ability to be organized, flexible, self-motivated and work effectively with minimum supervision.
- Good health and physical condition.
- Ability to work for long periods in very remote and physically demanding circumstances at unusual working hours.
