The Conservation farming Unit (CFU) is a local organisation whose mission is to provide small and medium scale farmers with the environment, knowledge and practical experience to help them successfully adopt conservation farming and conservation agriculture practices. The CFU is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the anticipated USAID Zambia Agriculture Diversification Support (ZADS) project.
Job Title: Chief of Party
The Chief of Party will have overall responsibility for the project. S/he will provide strategic leadership and oversee the project team and managing all project activities and supporting operations. S/he has final responsibility for project delivery, including planning, budgeting, and implementation of the technical vision and approach. The primary responsibility for achieving project success lies with the Chief of Party.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing overall project management and strategic direction.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the COR on day-to-day implementation and management matters relating to the contract.
- Ensures that managerial, administrative, and financial procedures comply with donor rules and regulations and CFU policies, and procedures.
- Facilitate close coordination with all stakeholders, including local partners, government officials, and USAID/Zambia.
- Overseeing the development of the annual implementation plan, budgets, and other deliverables per donor requests in collaboration with other key personnel.
- Supervise key personnel to ensure project goals are met and objectives are achieved.
- Provide oversight and guidance to project staff and consortium partners to ensure high-quality implementation and adherence to project standards
Required qualifications and experience
- Degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Agri- business, international development or other relevant areas.
- Minimum 10 years experience (at least 5 years of senior level experience) in managing agriculture value chain projects in the South and/or East African regions.
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- At least 10 years experience in managing donor-funded and/or other development programs related to Agriculture or international development with demonstrated experience in leading teams to achieve development results.
- Prior experience as Chief of Party or senior position on USAID or funded projects with strong knowledge of USAID rules and regulations is highly desirable.
