FARM MANAGER
Our client, a farm in Mpongwe requires a self-motivated individual with expertise in livestock management. The position involves managing day-to-day operations of beef cattle, ensuring feedlot profitability, overseeing animal husbandry, crop, and pasture management, and maintaining health and safety standards. The manager will also handle budgeting, reporting, staff training, and problem-solving, while continuously seeking innovative ways to improve farm operations.

Reporting to: The Operations Manager
Interacts with: Management and employees
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Administrative Duties:
– Budgeting: Plan and manage the farm’s daily operations and Capital expenditure.
– Reporting: Create weekly and monthly reports on how well the livestock are doing.
– Health and Safety: Make sure the feedlot follows safety rules and is kept clean and safe.
– Planning: Work with the Operations Manager to create plans for the farm’s future activities.
Leadership and Management Duties:
– Staff Management: Oversee, motivate, and evaluate the work of farm staff.
– Training: Teach workers who may not know much about cattle farming.
– Supervision: Make sure daily farm tasks are done efficiently.
– Problem-solving: Find new ways to improve the farm and fix problems.
Cattle and Feedlot Operations:
– Cattle Management: Take care of all tasks related to managing the beef cattle, including their health.
– Feedlot Operations: Ensure the feedlot runs well and that cattle are fed properly.
– Animal Care: Implement and manage the care and raising of animals.
– Feed Knowledge: Know about animal feed nutrition and how to formulate it.
– Crop and Pasture Management: Manage crops and pastures to ensure the best use of the land and sustainability.
REQUIRED SKILLSET:
– Work experience: of about 4 years with a performance track record
– Education level: Degree / Diploma in Animal Science
– Leadership and management
– General farm operations and management
