SCHOOL MANAGER: NURSERY & PRE-SCHOOL
This position is based in Mazabuka Town and reports to the Board of Directors.
JOB PURPOSE
As a School Manager, the candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of our learners and guiding a team of teachers and other staff. The candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our learners and contribute to the continued success of our Institution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
Overall day to day management responsibility for the pre-school.
To be responsible for the efficient running of the preschool nursery and overall delivery of a high-quality service.
To ensure that the preschool provides a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
To ensure the preschool meets regulatory requirements at all times.
To manage, supervise and support the preschool nursery staff.
To undertake and assign designated office roles.
To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families.
To ensure all staff understand and work to preschool the policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.
To conduct staff performance reviews as appropriate and to identify staff training needs.
To ensure all records are properly maintained in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company and legal requirements
To liaise closely with parents/carers/guardians, informing them about the preschool and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’/guardian’s involvement.
To work in partnership with the board to update and review the self-evaluation and school improvement plan.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the preschool aims and objectives.
Persons Specification and Qualifications
FACTORS ESSENTIAL CRITERISA
Education & Qualification
Grade 12 school certificate or its equivalent
A 3-year Diploma in Early Childhood Education or General Education.
First Aid Training would be an added advantage
Experience & Knowledge
A minimum of 2 years recent experience, working in a Private Preschool /Nursery setting
Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and prevailing Government statutory guidance.
Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities
Knowledge of various Preschool curricular
Skills & Attributes
Empathy and understanding of children under the age of five.
Excellent verbal and communication skills with children and parents.
Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records.
Effective team leadership.
Excellent organizational skills
Administrative and basic IT skills
Calm and caring nature
Ability to work as part of a team
