Job Description:
Metro SDA Hospital seeks highly skilled and compassionate Theatre Nurses to join our dedicated surgical team. As a Theatre Nurse, you will play a critical role in the surgical process, providing care before, during, and after surgery. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Operative Care:

Prepare the operating room with necessary instruments, sterile equipment, and supplies.
Assist in positioning patients on the operating table and ensuring their comfort.
Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure with the surgical team.

2. Intra-Operative Care:

Assist the surgical team during operations, including handling instruments, sutures, and other supplies.
Monitor patient vital signs and respond to any changes during surgery.
Maintain a sterile environment and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.

3. Post-Operative Care:

Monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Provide immediate care and assessment in the recovery room.
Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and discharge instructions.

4. Collaboration:

Work closely with the surgical team, including anesthetists, surgeons, and other nursing staff, to ensure smooth operations.
Communicate effectively with other departments, such as pharmacy and radiology, to coordinate patient care.

5. Documentation:

Accurately document patient information, surgical procedures, and any intra-operative events.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies on record keeping.

Qualifications:

Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license from the relevant nursing council.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a theater or surgical nursing role. Experience in specialized surgeries (e.g., orthopedic, cardiac) is an advantage.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
Excellent aseptic techniques and understanding of infection control protocols.
Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Compassionate patient care with attention to detail.

Work Environment:

Fast-paced operating room setting.
May require long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on surgery schedules.
Requires physical stamina for standing for long periods and lifting/moving patients and equipment.
