As the COO, you will lead our strategic vision, drive growth, and ensure operational excellence to position our firm for continued success in the dynamic insurance industry.

Job Summary: The COO of Strathmore Insurance Brokers Limited is responsible for providing visionary leadership, guiding strategic direction, and overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations. You will work closely with the executive team and employees to drive growth, enhance client relationships, and maintain a culture of excellence and innovation.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
1. Develop and articulate a compelling vision and strategic plan for the company’s growth and expansion.
2. Identify market trends, competitive threats, and opportunities for innovation to maintain our competitive edge.
3. Establish strategic partnerships and alliances to enhance our service offerings and market reach.
4. Lead initiatives to diversify revenue streams and expand into new markets or industry sectors.

Operational Management:
1. Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
2. Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress towards strategic goals and objectives.
3. Implement best practices and processes to optimize workflow, streamline operations, and enhance productivity.
4. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability throughout the organization.

Financial Management:
1. Develop and manage the company’s annual budget and financial plans to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
2. Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed to address variances or challenges.
3. Identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency.
4. Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.

Client Engagement and Relationship Management:
1. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
2. Monitor client satisfaction and feedback to identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation.
3. Lead initiatives to expand our client base and deepen existing client relationships.
4. Ensure that client needs and expectations are met or exceeded consistently.

Team Development and Leadership:
1. Recruit, develop, and retain top talent to build a high-performing and diverse team.
2. Provide inspirational leadership, mentorship, and guidance to employees at all levels of the organization.

  • PIA Regulations
  • Employment Legislation/ Laws in Zambia
  • NAPSA Act
  • Pensions Act
  • Workers Compensation Act
  • PAYE Tax Requirements
  • NHIMA

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a Diploma in insurance studies, its equivalent or better;
2. Minimum of 7 years’ management experience in the financial sector, at least 5 of which should be in insurance business;
3. Work experience in a Brokerage firm added advantage
4. Meet the fit and proper criteria as provided under Regulation 21(2) by

  • Demonstrating competence, skill and experience;
  • Has integrity demonstrated through personal and corporate character
  • Traceable references;
  • Is not declared bankrupt;

5. Has not been convicted of an offence involving fraud, dishonesty or other financial crimes under the Act or any other written law;
6. Has no record of misconduct with previous licensees or in the financial sector.
7. Member of the Insurance Institute of Zambia
