Communications Officer (150,000 – 300,000 ZMW)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Communications Officer to join our team. The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that enhance PPHPZ’s visibility and promote its mission and activities. This role involves creating compelling content for diverse audiences, managing external communication channels, and strengthening the organization’s relationships with key stakeholders. The successful candidate will be creative, proactive, and able to convey complex ideas in a clear, accessible manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with PPHPZ’s mission and goals.
- Create and manage content for PPHPZ’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, and other communication channels, ensuring consistency and clarity in messaging.
- Craft press releases, reports, brochures, and other publications to showcase PPHPZ’s work and amplify the voices of local communities engaged in climate action and poverty alleviation.
- Coordinate with program teams to capture and communicate project successes, challenges, and lessons learned to a broad audience, including donors, government agencies, and civil society partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, ensuring timely coverage of key events, activities, and milestones.
- Organize and manage media events, press briefings, and public engagement campaigns to raise awareness of PPHPZ’s work and advocacy efforts.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of communications efforts, providing regular updates and recommendations to the management team.
- Assist in developing advocacy campaigns aimed at promoting inclusive policies and local-led solutions in housing, poverty reduction, and climate action.
- Support internal communications, ensuring that staff are informed about key organizational updates and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- At least 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within an NGO or development sector.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to produce high-quality content for various formats and platforms.
- Experience in managing social media platforms, websites, and digital marketing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute communication strategies that raise awareness and engage diverse audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including media, donors, and community partners.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in graphic design software, photography, and video editing is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Zambia’s socio-economic landscape and experience working with grassroots organizations or marginalized communities is highly desirable.
