SHE (Safety, Health and Environmental) Manager Aller-Aqua Zambia Limited

JOB ADVERT – SHE (SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL) MANAGER.

Aller Aqua Zambia Limited invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of SHE Manager. The role reports to the Operations Director and will be based at the Aller Aqua Zambia Factory, in Siavonga.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY LEGAL AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

  • Ensuring that all licenses, permits, certifications and other regulatory requirements pertaining to Environmental, Health and Safety are in place and valid, including renewals.
  • Evaluate and report on compliance with all licenses, permits, certifications and other regulatory requirements pertaining to Environmental, Health and Safety.
  • Staying abreast of any changes in current EHS related legislation and the implementation of such changes to the company’s management system, policies and procedures where applicable.
  • Ensuring that all incidents are reported and investigated in accordance with legal requirements.

2. LEADERSHIP AND DIRECTION

  • Develops and monitors EHS objectives and targets in line with broader Company and Group objectives.
  • Delegate and monitor EHS duties for managers and key staff required for successful implementation of the E&S and OHS management systems on site.
  • Provide technical advice, coaching and guidance to staff on site all aspects of H&S and International Best Practice Standards as appropriate.
  • Ensure that training needs are identified and processed promptly and are undertaken at the appropriate time to raise safety awareness and ensure accountability for health and safety within all levels of the organisation.

3. ORGANISATIONAL H&S MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive OHS Risk Management Strategy.
  • Coordinate EHS communications including mandatory monthly EHS Management meeting.
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of all environmental requirements of the Environmental and Social Management system (ESMS).
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of a comprehensive, industry leading Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management System in line with International Standards of Best Practice utilising practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices.
  • Manage the capital and expense budget for the organization’s H&S operations, ensuring budgets are properly controlled and managed, to achieve best value for money.
  • Coordinate and monitor EHS activities to ensure that all E&S and OHS policies and procedures are implemented and strictly adhered to.
  • Monitor day to day activities on site to ensure that EHS policies and procedures are implemented and strictly adhered to and meet Aller Aqua and legislative requirements.
  • Coordinate a schedule for regular site inspections ensuring that the prescribed Safe Work Procedures are being observed and the operations are controlled as directed.
  • Oversee the development of site-specific risk assessments and control measures. Development and maintenance of a risk register for all operational sites.
  • Ensure adequate provision and usage monitoring of employees’ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on site.
  • Managing the drafting of Safe Work Procedures (SWP’s) and providing input into Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) adapted to the local context.
  • Responsible for emergency preparedness and response systems, including site specific emergency and evacuation procedures, emergency equipment management, drills, and contingency planning.
  • Develop EHS training materials and conduct trainings.
  • Implement a monitoring program to ensure third party employers comply with applicable legal requirements, company procedures, FirstWave E&S and OHS specifications and sustainability standards.
  • Monitoring and reporting of Lagging KPls including incidents, injuries, accidents, days lost, absence data, property and equipment damage.
  • Compile EHS reports and generation of management insights using available platforms.

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES :

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Active member of the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (ZOHSA).
  • Must have an excellent H&S track record with maintenance and continuous improvement of Safety, health, and environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Candidate between 30-35 years are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to speak the local language (Tonga) is an added advantage.
