SAFETY OFFICER – Lumwana Project
Scribante Mining Ltd (Brauteseth Blasting Mine) was established to provide open cast mining solutions throughout the Republic of Zambia.
Job Description:
The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all safety policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to in the workplace. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of LMC’s Occupational Health & Safety management system to a standard that is compatible with international practice and undertaken in a timely and cost-effective way.
- Assisting with the maintenance of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standard.
- Conducting safety assessments and audits on a regular basis and making recommendations for improvement.
- Developing and implementing safety training programs for employees.
- Investigating accidents and incidents and making recommendations to prevent future incidents.
- Ensuring that all safety equipment and machinery is properly maintained and is in good working condition.
- Conducting safety meetings with employees and management to discuss safety issues and concerns.
- Maintaining accurate records of all safety-related incidents, accidents, and injuries.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Grade 12 Certificate
Minimum of Diploma in Engineering/Diploma in OHS or equivalent
A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience with at least 4 years in a mining or industrial environment and at least 3 years in a health and safety officer role.
Competent in incident/accident investigation.
Working knowledge of OH&S systems, preferable IS045001:2018 OHSMS.
Demonstrated success as an effective leader.
