Poultry Supervisor Nkhuni Farms Ltd

Nkhuni Farm is looking for an experienced Poultry Supervisor to manage day-to-day poultry operations. The role involves overseeing poultry health, supervising farm staff, and ensuring efficient production. The supervisor will also ensure biosecurity, maintain farm facilities, and meet production targets while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Farm Operations:

• Oversee daily care and management of poultry, including feeding, watering, and monitoring health.
• Manage the breeding, hatching, and raising of chickens for eggs or meat production.
• Ensure all facilities (housing, feeding equipment, water systems) are clean and well-maintained.
• Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation to ensure optimal living conditions.

2. Health & Welfare:

• Conduct regular health checks on poultry to detect diseases or injuries.
• Coordinate with veterinarians for vaccinations, treatments, and health programs.
• Implement biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.

3. Staff Supervision:

• Manage and train farm workers, ensuring they follow proper protocols for poultry care.
• Assign tasks to workers, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Schedule work shifts and manage payroll submissions for farm laborers.

4. Production Management:

• Track and monitor poultry production rates (egg laying, weight gain, mortality rates).
• Ensure high levels of production while minimizing waste and costs.
• Coordinate and manage the delivery of poultry products (eggs, meat) to processing plants or markets.

5. Record Keeping & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of production, poultry health, feeding schedules, and inventories.
• Prepare reports for upper management on farm performance and productivity.
• Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and industry standards related to poultry farming.

Skills & Qualifications:

1. Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related fields.
2. 3 – 5 years of experience in poultry farming or livestock management, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
3. Prior working experience in managing a minimum of 5000 broilers and 1000 layers is a MUST.

Requirements:

1. Strong understanding of poultry farming techniques, animal health, and biosecurity measures.
2. Good verbal and written communication skills for reporting and team coordination.
3. MUST be NON-ALCHOLIC (non-negotiable)
4. Must be willing to stay on an off-grid farm for long period of time
5. Working knowledge of chicken slaughtering process is an added advantage
