𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲
The Geologist is responsible for the supervision and participation in day-to-day operational geology activities and contract programs at Kabundi Mine sites. These include the safe execution of site exploration works, production geology, the collection of geological and survey data, and proper sample protocol, Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC).
The Geologist will be expected to provide quality mine geology services and work collaboratively with the broader Mining Team to maximize the return from the operation. The role also includes designing, managing, and implementing exploration programs.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
𝟭.𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:
-Plan geology projects.
-Implement processes, policies, systems, and practices that contribute to effective geology operations.
-Assist in developing in-mine exploration and delineation drilling programs.
-Provide geological support to ensure safe and efficient production.
-Participate in production and planning meetings, and handle daily and weekly reporting.
𝟮. 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
-Participate in the implementation, interpretation, and reporting of drilling activities.
-Collect geological data, conduct mapping, sampling, and log RC chips and core samples.
-Ensure data integrity and implement QA/QC procedures.
𝟯. 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹:
-Coordinate sampling activities and ensure compliance with protocols.
-Supervise grade control operations on-site.
-Manage the flow of sample data from the pit to the lab and into the database.
-Collaborate with technical and operational teams to ensure timely and effective ore control activities to meet monthly production targets.
-Securely store data in the database and coordinate QA/QC programs to address accuracy and precision issues with contracted laboratories.
𝟰.𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴:
-Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
Projects:
-Work on geological projects related to drilling activities as directed by the Mine Manager.
-Collaborate with the Mine Manager on new approaches, methods, and policies to optimize performance and ensure adherence to industry regulations and organizational standards.
-Compile and interpret geological and assay data to assist in solving grade distribution issues, such as ore-waste boundaries and dilution, and to facilitate efficient mining.

𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
1.Grade 12 Certificate with 5 O Levels.
2.Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology.
3.Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:
At least 3 years of experience in a similar position.
𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
1. Knowledge of Reverse Circulation (RC) and Diamond Drilling (DD) methods.
2.Basic knowledge of sampling, sample management, QA/QC, and laboratory auditing.
3.Basic experience in mapping, logging, and section interpretation.
4.Competent in computer usage, with exposure to 3D geological software; proficiency in Microsoft Office is a plus.
5.Experience working in an open-pit mine will be an added advantage.
6. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language.
7. Previous experience with manganese operations will be a strong advantage.
