Key Responsibilities:
Field Investigation and Data Collection:
Conduct field studies to collect rock, soil, and other geological samples.
Map geological structures and analyze subsurface conditions to assess resource potential.
Use geophysical and geochemical techniques to evaluate natural resources and environmental impact.
Geological Analysis:
Analyze rock samples, mineral deposits, and soil characteristics using lab-based and computational techniques.
Interpret data from geological surveys and prepare detailed maps, diagrams, and models to visualize findings.
Project Development and Planning:
Collaborate with mining, engineering, and environmental teams to plan and implement resource extraction or conservation projects.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and environmental impact assessments.
Provide technical support for project design and planning, ensuring alignment with geological findings and safety standards.
Environmental Assessment and Sustainability:
Evaluate geological hazards and environmental risks associated with resource extraction.
Develop strategies to mitigate environmental impact, including land restoration and sustainable resource management.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports on geological findings, including maps, charts, and technical notes.
Present findings to management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as required.
Maintain accurate records of fieldwork, samples, and data for future reference.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in geology or a related field, with fieldwork experience preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency in GIS, CAD, and geological modeling software (e.g., ArcGIS, RockWorks).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
