Job Summary
The Assistant Audit Manager supports the audit team in managing client engagements and ensuring high standards of audit quality and compliance. This role involves working closely with audit managers and other senior staff to execute audit plans, supervise audit team members, and contribute to delivering a high level of service to clients. The Assistant Audit Manager is also expected to help develop the technical skills of junior auditors and foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the audit team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Audit Engagement Support:
- Assist in the planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements.
- Meet deadlines and maintain a high standard of audit quality.
- Monitor the progress of audits against the plan, addressing any delays or issues that arise during fieldwork.
- Supervise fieldwork to ensure that audit activities are conducted efficiently, thoroughly, and in line with the approved audit plan
2. Client Communication:
- Act as a point of contact with clients during engagements.
- Promptly address client questions and clarify audit procedures.
3. Team Supervision and Development:
- Supervise junior staff.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to help staff develop their auditing and technical skills.
4. Technical Expertise:
- Ensure audit procedures comply with relevant auditing standards, regulations, and the firm’s policies.
- Stay up to date with changes in financial reporting standards, auditing standards, and regulations.
- Provide technical guidance on accounting and auditing issues to team members.
- Review audit reports, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.
5. Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to the firm’s risk management protocols and quality assurance processes.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory bodies.
- Identify and mitigate risks in client engagements through robust planning and review processes.
6. Financial Management:
- Ensure engagements are delivered on a time.
- Contribute to the achievement of department revenue targets.
7. Stakeholder Management
- Establish and nurture relationships with clients, understanding their expectations, and maintaining clear communication throughout the audit process.
- Act as a liaison between clients and audit teams, facilitating the smooth exchange of information and ensuring that client inquiries and concerns are addressed promptly.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on audit progress, key findings, and any emerging issues.
- Manage expectations by clearly communicating timelines, scope, and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Collect feedback from stakeholders post-audit to assess satisfaction and identify areas for service improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Professional qualification: Full ACCA.
- 5+ years post-qualification audit and assurance experience, preferably within a large accounting firm.
- Experience planning and executing audit engagements.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and standards.
