Job Description – Solar Installer
We are seeking dedicated Solar Installers to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about environmental sustainability and skilled in the field of energy sources.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, assembly, installation, and maintenance of solar panel systems, ensuring that they function efficiently and sustainably. Job Location is Lusaka, with possibility of travelling within the country.
Responsibilities

Performing site-specific engineering analysis or assessments, detailing exact requirements.

Installing solar panels, inverters and batteries, and other necessary equipment at various locations, both residential, commercial and industrial properties in compliance with site assessment and schematics.

Ensuring electrical wiring is correctly in place and adhering to all safety and technical standards.

Maintaining records of maintenance, installation, and operation procedures for each site.

Diagnosing and fixing any issues related to solar system performance.

Keeping current with emerging technology and techniques in solar installation.

Providing detailed technical explanations to clients on how to use the systems effectively.

Must be able to do neat installations.

Measure, cut, assemble, and bolt structural framing and solar modules.

Connect installed arrays to existing power supplies and ensure electrical compatibility.

Apply weather sealing to array, building, or support mechanisms.

Perform maintenance checks and troubleshoot operational issues to ensure system functionality.

Ensure compliance with ERB and EIZ regulations.

Keep a detailed and accurate record of installation data and project progress.

Educate customers on system operations and functionality.
Requirements

Diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent: certification in PV Installation, solar energy technology, or a related field may be considered an added advantage.

Proven experience as a Solar Installer or similar role in the energy or construction sectors for more than 2 years.

Familiarity with electrical wiring and equipment safety protocols.

Strong working knowledge of power tools and machinery.

Applicant should be a member of EIZ and should be a certified.

This role not only requires technical skills but also physical stamina and the ability to work at heights, often in all weather conditions.

Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team are also important traits for a successful Solar Installer.
