THE COMPANY

UMINO Community Loan Services is a private company limited by shares that provides financial services to rural parts of Zambia. UMINO is an acronym derived from ‘UMoyo wa bwINO’ which means a ‘good life’ and provides Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) loans.
Currently, UMINO is operating using a Money Lenders’ license, in the process of registering as a non-deposit taking Microfinance Institution (MFI) regulated by the Bank of Zambia.
UMINO provides loans to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Eastern part of Zambia. UMINO currently has more than 2000 clients across six branches covering twelve (12) districts namely, Rufunsa, Luangwa, Nyimba, Petauke, Sinda, Katete, Lundazi, Lumezi, Chasefu, Chipangali, Chadiza and Vubwi.

JOB OVERVIEW

The loan officer will be responsible for receiving loan applications, assessing business plans, and conducting follow up visits with clients. Additionally, the loan officer will be required to compose weekly working plans and any other duties assigned by supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1.Ability to ride or learn how to ride a motorbike is a must.
2.Full Grade 12 Certificate with credits in English and Mathematics.
3.Minimum qualification – Tertiary education in either Business studies or Agric related courses
4.Attention to detail is a must.
5.Trustworthy, Self-motivated and can work under minimal supervision.
6.Very high reliability, integrity, and efficient working style
7.Basic knowledge in operating Microsoft office package tools
8.Good spoken English and interpersonal skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Creates and manages own loan portfolio.
2.Marketing and selling company products and services to customers.
3.Loan assessment based on the UMINO guidelines.
4.Present supportable business ideas with a proper and complete loan proposals to the Branch Manager
5.Client monitoring by conducting regular on-site visits as per guidelines.
6.Coaches loan receivers and evaluates business activity along the on-site visits.
7.Writing weekly reports
8.Keeps Branch Manager updated regarding performance of his/her loan portfolio, so that possible problems can be tackled pro-actively.
9.The Loan Officer reports to the Branch Manager on a day-to-day basis.
