Electrician Sunset Student Hostels Limited

Sunset Student Hostels Limited is a premier provider of student accomodation in Lusaka. We are looking for an electrician who will be responsible for maintenance, repairs and installations of electrical systems, solar and back up systems,equipment and fixtures in our hostels. The electricians ensures all electrical systems are in proper working order to support the hostels operations and provide a safe and confortable enoviroment for students and staff. Key responsibilities include the following:

1. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, solar systems, backup power and other electrical equipment.
2. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, identifying the root causes and implementing necessary repairs promptly.
3. Repair or replace faulty wiring, switches, outlets, and fixtures as needed.
4. Install new electrical systems, components, and fixtures according to hostel standards and safety regulations. Upgrade existing electrical systems to meet modern energy efficiency and safety standards.
5. Respond to emergency electrical issues promptly, assessing the situation and taking corrective actions to minimize disruptions and hazards.
6. Ensure all electrical work adheres to local electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards. Identify potential safety hazards and recommend solutions to mitigate risks.
7. Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, repairs, and installations.

Qualifications and requirements

1. Grade 12 certificate, college diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program or trade school is preferred.
2. Relevant electrician’s license or certification in compliance with Engineering Institute of Zambia.
3. Proven experience as an electrician, preferably in a hospitality or commercial setting.
4. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, solar and back up systems and troubleshooting techniques.
5. Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
6. Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and diagrams.
7. Proficiency in using electrical tools, meters, and testing equipment.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
9. Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
10. Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and climbing.
