The Opportunity

We are looking for a serious individual who is looking to develop their career in finance in the financial sector and is willing to work hard.
Grade/Role: Assistant Accountant
Responsibilities:
- Capturing all daily transactions from the Bank Accounts and ensuring all transactions are updated in our accounting software within a 24-hour cycle.
- Posting Non-Cash Transaction journals (e.g. Accruals, Depreciation, provisions).
- Preparation and Review of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Accounts.
- Performing internal audits and review of processes and internal controls periodically and reporting any breaches or recommended improvements to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
- Preparing and signing off the Annual Budget in conjunction with the CFO and CEO.
- Performing monthly budgetary control to ensure annual budget targets are not exceeded.
- Supporting the preparation and submission of BOZ quarterly returns under the supervision of the CFO, maintaining liaisons with all regulatory bodies.
- Coordinating and supervising the Annual Audit under the supervision of the CFO.
- Filing and Uploading of ZRA returns and all other regulatory filings.
- Ensuring all business licenses are up to date.
- Reviewing Loan Applications (15% – 20% of time).
- Preparing and presenting weekly Cash flow forecasts update (25% of time) under the supervision of the CFO.
- Preparation and Review of Company recovery submissions and reconciliations (25% of time).
- Reviewing and uploading of operating expenses payment batches (5% – 10% of time).
- Ensuring all assets are accounted for and safeguarded at all times.
- Conducting internal audits and preparing internal audit reports with key findings and recommendations to be shared with Senior management.
- Various other administrative tasks as may be required by senior management.
Requirements:
- Able to participate in senior management meetings and make recommendations to improve business operations.
- Has experience in fully articulating management instructions and successfully implementing managerial decisions to completion.
- Has experience presenting to senior management.
- Able to take management through commercial reports and recommendations.
- Able to ensure processes/policies are being enforced.
- Able to manage competing commitments effectively.
- Comfortable handling clients, 3rd party supplier relationships, regulators, etc.
- Has a demonstrable history of performing consistently at a high level, with a duty of care, integrity, and professionalism.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Graduate from a reputable university or Professional affiliate qualification e.g. ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent business/economics qualification or qualified NATECH or AAT holders with full experience of running and updating accounting software.
- At least 2 – 5 years’ experience in a junior-to-mid management finance position.
- Experience working in a fast-paced SME business with high growth potential and less structured environment.
