Job Title: Internal Auditor
Location: Maamba, Sinazongwe District, Southern Province, Zambia
About Maamba Energy Limited (MEL):
Maamba Energy is jointly owned by Nava Bharat Singapore Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH Plc. The company operates a large-scale coal mine and a 300 Mega Watt coal-fired power plant, which meets Zambia’s growing energy demands.
Role Overview:
The Internal Auditor will support the Internal Audit Manager in identifying business risks and evaluating internal controls to mitigate those risks. The auditor will work to improve the effectiveness of risk management, controls, and governance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and test current internal control systems and documentation.
- Assess the suitability of internal control designs and processes.
- Perform risk assessments and internal audits as per the audit plan.
- Identify and report issues, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Submit timely audit working papers for review by the Internal Audit Manager.
- Monitor and follow up on the implementation of action plans for remedial actions.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the Internal Audit Manager.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or full CA Zambia, ACCA, CIMA, CIA.
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) or The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Zambia).
- Minimum 5 years of Internal Audit experience (experience in the mining industry is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of Internal Audit standards.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
