Brief Description
primary responsibility is to ensure that all equipment, facilities, and structures are in excellent condition. The maintenance technician is required to conduct routine maintenance checks, identify any issues, and fixing them promptly and efficiently to minimize downtime. Duties include repairing and replacing faulty equipment, performing routine maintenance on plumbing and electrical systems, and ensuring that all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units and water heaters are functioning at optimal levels. You will also be responsible for maintaining the hotel’s physical appearance, including furniture repairs, doors and locks, minor paint and plastering works and minor carpentry work.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Respond and attend to guest repair and maintenance requests.
2. Ensure efficient operation of electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and water heating systems.
3. Check for new maintenance requests from house-keeping, banqueting and other departments and give update once the tasks are completed.
4. Update the maintenance work order form / Job card and file them. .
5. Ability to read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.
6. Perform maintenance activities in the guest room like unclogging drains, and repairing all types of hardware, and electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners / HVAC, and AC ducts.
7. To operate as an independent technician by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.
8. To monitor fire Alarm / Life Safety System systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation, and to handle emergencies involving the systems.
9. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
10. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
11. Undertake other duties as required by the maintenance manager.
Qualifications:
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate
- Electrical Engineering Certificate or Diploma
- Minimum Two Years’ Experience (Previous Experience in Hospitality will be an added advantage)
- Registered member of Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
