Segment Head Transactional Banking – Grade 5 First Capital Bank

Applications are invited from qualified, experienced, and skilled candidates to fill the position of Head Transactional Banking.

The job holder will be responsible for initiating and enabling transactional sales origination, cross-selling and client engagement in the business to achieve transaction banking revenue goals. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to enhance service delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering strong client relationships. The Head will also work closely with other departments to optimize product offerings and improve operational efficiency.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take the lead in identifying client needs, engaging key influencers and decision makers, developing solutions and leading proposals and pitches to clients.
  • Understand the local markets in terms of size, share, structure, potential customer segmentation, buyer behaviors and competitor analysis in the country.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and client feedback to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • To develop and implement the products, payments and digital strategy and roadmap for Zambia.
  • To review and assess technology, products, and practices (world best practice and best in class Banks) and enhance existing and develop new digital, products and payment solutions and revenue streams.
  • To sustainably review (through data analytics) our customer offering, competitiveness, pricing, promotion, brand, and communication and ensure that there is a complete alignment with the strategy and a 360-degree approach.
  • To optimize and be accountable for the distribution, sales, penetration and financial results of the Banks digital, products and payment offering, through the various channels within the Bank.
  • Work closely with the respective Relationship Managers and internal business partners to provide the specialist partnership in delivering the revenue and drive targets for clients.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate changes to streamline transaction customer journeys, being aware and understanding of the bank’s processes.
  • Ensure efficient processing of transactions while maintaining high levels of accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transaction volumes, turnaround times, and client satisfaction.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.
  • Manage portfolio level planning for the product, brainstorming, and identification of opportunities; take the lead in deal closure and execution.
  • Deliver comprehensive suite of payments and cash management, trade finance and foreign exchange solutions.
  • Create value proposition and provide structure guidance to Relationship Managers in driving portfolio revenue.
  • Focus on maximizing cash & trade revenue by resolving any Product related impediments to the same.
  • Ensure all transactional banking activities comply with relevant regulations (e.g., AML/KYC).
  • Conduct regular audits of processes to mitigate risks associated with fraud or operational failures.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting the transactional banking landscape.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES / EXPERIENCE

Critical Knowledge/qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales/Marketing or related fields with at least seven (07) years’ experience in the Banking Industry.
  • An MBA or a Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Must have a clear understanding of current Banking Rules and Regulations.

CRITICAL EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of seven (07) years’ experience in the Banking Sector with a proven track record of achievement and high performance.

  • Keen interest in digital financial trends and developments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be able to meet deadlines.
  • Innovative, Analytical and with strong judgement.
  • Full and extensive knowledge of acquiring products and services.
  • In-depth knowledge of competitor solutions.
  • Fully aware of industry trends.
  • Proven success rate in negotiation in a corporate environment.
