Stomacare Support Zambia (SSZ) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with ostomy conditions. Run by a committed team of volunteers, SSZ is legally registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act No. 16 of 2009 of the Laws of Zambia.
SSZ works in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to enhance access to essential ostomy care services. This includes the provision of quality and affordable ostomy services such as supplies, education, and psychosocial support to individuals affected by ostomy conditions. Through advocacy and awareness campaigns, SSZ aims to reduce stigma, improve healthcare integration, and strengthen service delivery in Zambia’s healthcare system.
Stomacare Support Zambia (SSZ) is seeking a Resource Mobilization Specialist to enhance its income generation capacity for long-term sustainability. The specialist will work with partners, stakeholders, and SSZ Board Members to develop and implement a Resource Mobilization Plan, identify funding sources, and securing both financial and in-kind support for SSZ’s programs. The role involves fostering relationships with donors, providing regular updates, and aligning resource mobilization efforts with SSZ’s mission. Reporting to the Board Member – Programs, the position is part-time and commission-based.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Work with SSZ Management to develop a SMART Resource Mobilization Plan that sets fundraising targets, outlines strategies, and identifies necessary resources for SSZ’s financial sustainability.
- Identify potential in-country donors, including government agencies, businesses, foundations, and philanthropists, while cultivating long-term, trusting relationships to secure ongoing support for SSZ’s mission and programs.
- Proactively identify and pursue fundraising opportunities, such as donations from private and public sector donors, corporate sponsorships, and crowdfunding campaigns, while developing a funding pipeline to ensure a steady flow of resources and strategic partnerships.
- Lead the writing and submission of grant applications, ensuring alignment with SSZ’s priorities targeting annual revenue of $50,000.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement, develop member benefits, and establish a membership fee structure that supports SSZ’s sustainable financial goals. This may involve designing tiered membership levels, offering exclusive benefits, and encouraging increased participation in SSZ’s programs.
- Ensure that fundraising efforts align with the organization’s long-term priorities.
- Regularly report on the status of fundraising goals, donor engagement, and outreach efforts, providing updates to SSZ Management and the Board of Directors.
- Organize and execute fundraising events and campaigns, including galas, charity auctions, and online initiatives, to raise awareness and resources, while coordinating logistics and engaging volunteers with the SSZ team.
- Collaborate with volunteers to create compelling fundraising materials, such as proposals, donor newsletters, impact reports, and social media content, to effectively communicate SSZ’s mission, needs, and successes.
- Identify opportunities for collaborative fundraising with other NGOs, corporations, and government entities to expand the reach and impact of SSZ’s fundraising campaigns.
- Work with the finance team to ensure that all fundraising activities comply with legal regulations and donor-specific guidelines, maintaining transparency and accountability in the use of funds raised.
- Contribute to the annual budget by providing input on expected fundraising revenue and expenses related to resource mobilization efforts. Ensure that the budget supports the implementation of SSZ’s Resource Mobilization Plan.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Development Studies, or any related discipline.
- A Master’s degree in International Development, or related disciplines will be an added advantage.
Professional Work Experience & Skills
- 5 years proven experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, and grant writing.
- Familiarity with donor relations, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit organizations and the challenges and opportunities
- Expertise in using fundraising platforms, social media for fundraising, and online giving campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute fundraising plans and meet revenue targets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently, set priorities and manage competing priorities

Location: The position holder will be required to work online. However, they will from time to time be required to work from Lusaka.
Work schedule: This is a commission based position, hour of work will depend on the amount of work required.
Duration: The contract duration is 1 year reviewable depending on performance.
