About the job Spiritual and Character Development Deputy Program Manager
The Deputy Program Manager for Spiritual and Character Development is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating spiritual and character-building initiatives for the Tree of Life program. The position focuses on ensuring that spiritual values and character formation are integrated into all aspects of the program, contributing to the holistic development of children and staff.
Specific Tasks
Program Design and Implementation
- In consultation with the Tree of Life Senior Manager, design and deliver spiritual and character development activities, ensuring alignment with organizational values.
- Creating materials and resources for spiritual guidance, discipleship, and mentoring.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops, devotionals, and special programs that promote spiritual growth and character formation.
Staff and Student Engagement
- Provide guidance and mentorship to staff and children, promoting a positive spiritual and moral environment.
- Support the planning and coordination of chapel services, Bible study sessions, and character-building activities.
- Collaborate with the Education Department and other teams to integrate spiritual development into academic and extracurricular activities.
- Develop, monitor and evaluate strategic goals and plans for teams.
- Engage in decision making consultation with supervisors and subordinates.
- Building the capacity of subordinates in problem solving to mitigate disruptions that may arise within Tree of Life.
- Create a work culture that promotes good values among learners and staff as required by the ministry policies.
- Solicit and give appropriate feedback to staff to encourage development of strengths and address areas of growth.
- Propose and develop policies to strengthen and address various programs and initiatives for the children in Tree of Life.
- Stimulate and promote a culture of togetherness, cohesion, unity among the Tree of Life Character Development staff.
- Intentionally build relationships with your teams to foster an environment of collaboration and freedom.
- Provide incentives for and encouragement to staff.
Ministry & Discipleship
- Act as Tree of Life Church rotational Sunday speaker.
- Ensure Nurturing the Hearts of Children principles and language are intentionally being reproduced in all training sessions.
- This position requires flexibility, as some activities may occur outside regular working hours.
- The position holder may be required to work on Sundays to facilitate spiritual programs and other related activities.
Administrative and Monitoring Duties
- Assist with monitoring and evaluating the impact of spiritual and character development programs.
- Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, and outcomes.
- Prepare reports and provide feedback to the Senior Program Manager on program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
- Review teams weekly reports and provide feedback.
- Compile monthly and quarterly department reports and submit to supervisor.
- Communicate information on behalf of Spiritual and Character Development Teams across ministry departments.
- Conduct trainings for staff.
- Maintain, compile, and report accurate records for subordinates regarding time off, sick off, leave days, special events, and other HR matters.
Community and Stakeholder Relations
- Foster relationships with local faith-based organizations, churches, and community leaders to support the programs mission.
- Represent the program in external spiritual and character development forums when required.
Leadership and Development
- Train and mentor junior staff and volunteers involved in spiritual and character development initiatives.
Program Development
- Develop and or recommend new or revised program initiatives (goals and objectives) for the department.
Camp Life
- Carry out assigned responsibilities in Camp Life programming as needed.
The Employee shall also be expected to undertake any responsibilities as may be delegated by his or her supervisor.

Academic and Professional Requirements:
- Bachelors level degree in Management, Child or Adolescent Development, Social Work, Organizational Leadership, Theology or related fields
- 5+ years experience in a similar role, including at least 2 years experience in direct residential child care work
Level of Contact with Children:
High Contact: High frequency of interaction with children.
