We are seeking to recruit the services of qualified talented and dedicated professional to fill the position of Logistics and Warehouse Manager to be based Lusaka.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Logistics and Warehousing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all logistics operations, managing the Healthy Learners fleet, and ensuring the effective storage and distribution of inventory across the country. This role includes leading the logistics team, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, optimizing our warehouse operations, and establishing warehouse inventory controls. Additionally, the role will focus on ensuring efficient fleet utilization to achieve cost savings and continuously improving processes to support internal stakeholders.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fleet and Logistics Management
- Oversee the full Healthy Learners fleet, including vehicles, trucks, and motorbikes distributed nationwide.
- Develop and implement fleet management policies and best practices to ensure optimal vehicle usage and maintenance.
- Ensure proper tracking, servicing, and compliance with road safety regulations for all fleet assets.
- Manage fuel consumption and operational costs, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
- Implement strategies to enhance fleet utilization, reduce idle time, and ensure cost-effective vehicle deployment.
- Oversee the Logistics annual budget in conjunction with key stakeholders, including the review of variance reports.
Warehousing and Inventory Control
- Manage all warehousing activities, ensuring proper storage, security, and distribution of supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct regular stock reconciliations, and ensure optimal stock levels.
- Implement inventory control procedures to minimize losses, damages, and inefficiencies.
- Oversee the timely dispatch and distribution of materials to support Healthy Learners’ operations across the country.
Team Leadership and Performance Management
- Lead and develop the logistics and warehousing team, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
- Implement performance management processes to evaluate and enhance team productivity.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability.
- Provide training and capacity building for team members to improve operational efficiency.
Health and Safety Compliance
- Ensure that all logistics and warehouse operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols for warehouse and fleet operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to reduce hazards within logistics and warehousing activities.
- Promote a safety-first culture within the team, ensuring adherence to best practices.
Process Improvement and Internal Stakeholder Support
- Continuously assess and improve logistics and warehousing processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify logistics and inventory-related challenges and implement solutions.
- Sensitize internal stakeholders on fleet and warehousing policies and processes to ensure effective coordination and adherence to best practices.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field of study from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, fleet management, or warehouse operations.
- Must be a paid up member of Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation (ZCILT).
- At least 3 years of proven leadership and team management experience.
- Proven Proficiency in inventory management systems and logistics software. Proficiency in Microsoft applications i.e. Excel, work, google app.
- Strong organizational skills and consistent in, prioritizing and meeting deadlines, with great attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills with the ability to make independent judgments and decisions.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in logistics and warehousing.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
