Manager : Human Resource Bayobab Zambia

Job Summary

The Manager: Human Resource at Bayobab Zambia is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, talent management, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and organizational development. The Manager: Human Resource maintains a strong understanding of the Zambia FiberCo’s financial standing, strategic direction, culture, and competitive environment, ensuring that HR initiatives are aligned with the company’s broader objectives and drive sustainable growth.

Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Alignment – Align the Human Resource strategy with Bayobab Zambia’s corporate strategy, vision, mission, and values to optimize human capital productivity and achieve business objectives.
  2. Budget Development and Cost Management – Develop and submit the departmental budget aligned with objectives and policies for consolidation into the corporate budget.
  3. Policy Formulation and Implementation – Formulate, implement, and regularly review Human Resource manuals, policies, and procedures to ensure relevance and compliance with organizational and legal standards.
  4. Talent Acquisition and Retention – Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent, enhancing organizational productivity.
  5. Employee Relations – Promote harmonious employee relations that support productivity and business growth through effective communication and conflict resolution. Act as the custodian of disciplinary and grievance procedures, ensuring fairness and compliance with labour laws.
  6. Performance Management – Ensure all employees have clearly defined KPIs, and performance appraisals are conducted on schedule.
  7. Training and Development – Develop and execute a staff development plan to bridge skills gaps and support career growth.
  8. Employee Wellness – Coordinate employee wellness programs to promote health, morale, and productivity. Ensure effective management of the Company’s medical scheme and adherence to leave utilization policies to avoid hidden costs.
  9. Employee Engagement – Build a high-performance work culture by building morale, improving work relationships, and promoting employee engagement and retention.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration (MBA), Organizational Development, or a related – an added advantage
  • Professional HR Certifications (e.g., ZIHRM, SHRM-CP, CIPD, HRCI)

Experience:

  • Proven track record of 5+ years in a managerial HR role, with at least 3 years of experience in the telecom industry.
  • Extensive working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and relevant employment laws.
