How Will You Impact AGL Zambia Ltd?
Under the supervision of the Transport Manager, the Transport Officer will deputize the Transport Manager in his absence, supervise the Operations staff of the company’s transport suppliers to ensure effective and efficient execution of the jobs awarded to them. Develop and propose transport solutions to the company’s business prospects in liaison with the Sales team, provide supervisory and training support to the junior transport operators within the department and handle other duties that may be assigned by the company from time to time.
- Assist the transporters to ensure that their staff adhere to the AGL Zambia SOP and Group policies in the execution of the awarded jobs.
- Responsible for ensuring that approved transport purchase orders are secured and issued to providers before any job execution.
- Responsible for the mobilization of adequate transport capacity from among the contracted transporters for executing the company’s approved contracts and orders.
- Make sure that all corporate policies are followed and respected during job executions and in supplier relationship management.
- Control the operational efficiency i.e. loading, transit and offloading times to assist in optimizing supplier profitability and eliminating demurrage costs for the company.
- Support Transport business development activities by identifying business opportunities and proposing viable solutions.
- Participate in talent identification and recruitment programs of road transport operators in cooperation with the Country Transport Manager.
- Participate in transport supplier identification and recruitment process in cooperation with the Country Transport Manager while ensuring compliance with regulatory and Group requirements.
- Responsible for hands-on detailed supplier pre-onboarding vetting with special focus on regulatory and Group compliance policies and principles.
- Recommend providers at country level.
- Anticipate and advise management about country traffic flows in collaboration with Front Office.
- Responsible for detailing scopes of work to providers to ensure accurate execution.
- Daily supervision of the company’s Tracking team to ensure quick identification and resolution of operational and transit bottlenecks.
- Support the Front Office in the setting-up and proposing of solutions.
- Monitor and ensure supplier service quality through a systematic supplier KPI follow up.
- Closely collaborate with the company’s Operations/Customer Service team to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to AGL Zambia operations policy.
- Responsible for maintaining operational data in Transport Management Systems TMS, LINK PARTNERS and CarLO.
- Tracking and reporting IT needs for operations to provide feedback for improvements.
What You Need to Succeed.
- Advanced Diploma in Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport / Bachelors in Transport & Logistics / Degree in Business Administration / Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 5 Years of work experience in the Transport Industry preferably with a Transport Company and/or Logistics Service Provider (LSP).
- Must be thoroughly familiar with cross-border (over border) transport operations.
- Must be fluent in both written and verbal English.
- Must be fluent with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Must be able to work independently, be self-assured as well as have a diplomatic personality.
